Easing the International Student Transition Through Peer Mentorship
Berkeley International Office

In the second year of the Berkeley International Office's Peer Mentorship Program for Undergraduates, the 38 mentors - consisting of upperclass students from all over the world including Nigeria, Pakistan, Ecuador and the US - are excited to welcome this year's freshman and transfer international students.  The mentors have been extensively trained in assisting new international students with their adjustment to life in the US. Through their mentor, the new students will get insights about what it is like to be at UC Berkeley before even stepping foot on campus.  Answering questions and referring to resources are just part of the mentors' responsibilities. The mentees who participate in the Peer Mentorship Program will also be invited to participate in multiple monthly events organized by their mentor or the Berkeley International Office.  In addition to easing their transition throughout the fall semester, this program aims to connect incoming students to one another and form small communities based around similar academic or extracurricular interests so that when the mentees arrive, they will already have friends.

Please help us promote this program to new international undergraduates. For more information, see: http://internationaloffice.berkeley.edu/peer_mentorship
