In 2014, the EOP STEM Program was created in order to bridge the needs of historically underrepresented students in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields. By providing one on one support (through the Mentorship Program), leadership opportunities and guidance (through our professional development workshops, community socials, and company visits), we aspire to help the next generation of leaders to accomplish their goals and cultivate a new definition for students in STEM.
GPP Minor Peer Advisors are available to meet with students both in-person and remotely to discuss any questions they have regarding the GPP Minor. The GPP Peer Advisors are undergraduate students who have completed a majority of the requirements for the GPP Minor, including the Practice Experience. They are a great resource to seek information about what the Minor entails, selecting a poverty action Practice Experience, course planning, and much more.
Cultural Peer Mentors (CPMs) are Cal students interested in building cross-cultural understanding and providing support to visiting international students in the Berkeley International Study Program (BISP). CPMs plan events with the intent of creating community among BISP students. CPMs also provide guidance and serve as a resource for all things UC Berkeley, the city of Berkeley, the Bay Area, and beyond.
Student technology consultants (STCs) are current undergraduate/graduate students who provide technical support in everyday, practical terms for students. They provide support with Wi-Fi, CalNet, hardware, software, malware, printing, and other assistance with troubleshooting issues on their personal devices (e.g. laptop, desktop, tablet, phone, etc.). There is no cost for the service to the student, as it covered by campus fees.
Data Science Peer Advisors (DSPAs) complement the Data Science Advising services by sharing their diverse knowledge and experiences with DS courses, different Data Science Major domain emphases, how to Minor in DS, extracurriculars, and student groups on campus, research opportunities, and various campus resources.
Peer advisors assist the Cognitive Science advising team by providing students with information about the major, major requirements, academic planning, assistance with getting involved with clubs and research opportunities, and much, much more!
DS Transfer Mentors are the most important part of our outreach program to incoming transfer students. They have a cohort of incoming transfer students that they correspond with, answering all kinds of questions from "What classes should I take?" to "Where's a good place to study?"
The Peer Advising Leadership (PAL) Program of Rausser College strives to offer personal insights and experiences to current & prospective RCNR students. Our PALs are trained in understanding & communicating our Major requirements, College policies, research opportunities, and more! The goal of these students is to offer peer advising to everyone - ranging from a first-semester Berkeley freshman to a last-semester senior!
Weekly hours for Physics students and other MPS students to stop by with questions for Peer Advisors and Staff Advisors. Come ask us about courses, program plans, research, careers, and whatever else is on your mind!
