Lupe Gallegos-Diaz
Director of the Chicanx Latinx Academic Student Development Center and co-director of the Latinos and the Environment Initiative. She has been on campus for over 30+ years as a graduate student, staff member, administratorand lecturer in Chicano Studies Program/Ethnic Studies Department. Her areas of teaching include Chicanx Latinx student and leadership development, Latinas in the nonprofit sector, fundraising and philanthropy. And locally she is the chair of the Chicana Latina Foundation and treasurer of the Environmental Justice Coalition for Water in California. Mrs.Gallegos-Diaz has a Bachelors of Science in Sociology from Santa Clara University; Masters in Social Work and Certificate of Philosophy from the Ethnic Studies PhD program at University of California, Berkeley and a Certificate of Fundraising from the University of San Francisco.
Omar Ramirez
Originally from Lynwood, CA, Omar transferred from Cerritos Community College to UC Berkeley to complete his undergraduate degree. Omar completed a Masters of Arts degree in Organization and Leadership at the University of San Francisco, where he examined institutionalized counterspaces (spaces on campus where Students of Color are able to find cultural affirmation and create a space for healing from campus racism) through a staff perspective. His professional experience at UC Berkeley began in the Chicanx Latinx Student Development office, and later included Outreach Coordinator in the unit formerly known as Transfer, Re-entry, and Student Parent Center and Admissions Advisor, Diversity Coordinator, and Transfer Specialist in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. In 2013 Omar moved to CED as an Academic Advisor and is now Director of Undergraduate Advising in the College of Environmental Design
